What is an E-Ticket?

An E-ticket (or "electronic ticket") is a paper-less ticket. Instead of receiving a physical ticket, a
confirmation number is sent to be used at the airport check-in with your photo ID (such as a driver's
license) to receive your boarding pass. In some cases, the airlines may ask you to present the credit card
that you used to book your flight.

Using an E-ticket is very simple and completely secure. Most airlines offer E-tickets, especially for U.S.
domestic travel. Overseas with customs and immigration also use of E-tickets internationally. Many
international airlines offer E-ticketing on select routes. E-tickets have many benefits. You CAN'T LOSE an
E-ticket since your ticket is your confirmation number and photo identification. And in the event that you
forget the confirmation number, the flight number will do the job.

TIP: Some carriers require travelers to present the credit card they used to purchase the ticket online. If
you are thinking about purchasing a ticket for a friend or relative who does not have access to your credit card,
please call and check with the airline about their specific requirements. TOP >
